Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description

A Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in the sanitation and infection control efforts of ACRMC.  There duties include sterilizing instruments and equipment, processing and maintaining inventory and fulfilling supply requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medical equipment and instruments for decontamination.
• Operates equipment to clean, disinfect and decontaminate surgical instruments, medical devices and equipment.
• Inspects instruments and equipment for signs of damage and wear and tear.
• Unpacks, checks and stocks new equipment, instruments and devices.
• Delivers equipment and supplies to all areas of the facility.
• Responds to emergency supplies to all areas of the facility.
• Responds to emergency supply request during surgical procedures.
• Maintains accurate records of when items undergo sterilization.
• Monitors temperature and humidity conditions within storage areas.

Requirements

• Must have graduated from high school; and one (1) year sterilization experience preferred.
•  Certification preferred, but not required.  Maintains current BLS.
