Job Description
Responsible for identified business functions within the Rural Health Clinic to include, but not limited to, receiving and greeting of all patients and visitors, scheduling patients, patient record preparation and maintenance, preparation of patient charges for processing, typing dictation and correspondence, ordering supplies, assist the physician and patient in clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department
- Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable
- Greets and welcomes patients followed by completing registration for appointments including patient demographics and verification of patient insurance(s)
- Registering and managing patient portal accounts
- With additional certification, will register and process urine drug screens
- Updates appointment calendars in the computer
- Receives, sorts, and routes mail, and maintains the routes publications
- Maintains fax machines, assists users, sends faxes, and retrieves and routs incoming faxes
- Creates memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents when necessary
- Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating
- Posts payments and makes bank deposits
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). At least one (1) year of experience working in registration or billing of a healthcare setting preferred.
