Job Summary: Schedules appointments for surgeries, keeps patient charts up to date and transports patient and specimens to appropriate area in the Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Compiles, organizes and prepares patient charts
- Answers the telephone, greets and directs patients and visitors
- Relays messages appropriately and in a timely manner
- Organizes files and clerical supplies so they can be obtained readily
- Restocks and maintains clerical supplies
- Schedules appointments with appropriate physicians at the appropriate time and reschedules as necessary
- Keys charges in daily
- Collaborates with registration regarding pre-certs
- Asks what patient or customer prefers to be called
- Speaks clearly and faces the patient or customer
- Observes and listens (non-verbal communication)
- Builds patient surgery charts
- Run reports (e.g. CT Scans, x-rays, laboratory)
- Prints statistical reports
- Transports patients in wheelchair or stretcher to locations within the facility
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). At least one (1) year of experience working in a medical related clerical position is preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Maintains current BLS.
