Job Description
Schedules procedures, prepares and compiles records in the Surgery Department by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Transcribes Physician orders
- Puts chart together for next day
- Pulls old medical records for upcoming cases
- Runs reports (e.g. CT Scans, x-rays, laboratory)
- Collaborates interdepartmental scheduling
- Prints statistical reports
- Records name of patient, address, and name of attending Physician to prepare medical records on new patients
- Copies information such as patient’s temperature, pulse rate, and blood pressure from nurses’ record onto patient’s medical records
- Records information, such as Physician’s orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information on patient charts and medical records
- Requisitions supplies designated by nursing staff
- Answers the telephone/intercom calls and provides information, or relays messages, to patients and medical staff
- Directs visitors to patient’s rooms
- Compiles census of patients
- Transports patients in wheelchair or stretcher to locations within facility
Education and/or Experience/Certificates
High School Diploma or GED required. At least 6 months experience working in a health care facility preferred.
