Job Description
Operates mammography equipment to produce mammograms for diagnostic purposes according to the American College of Radiology guidelines. Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist
Responsibilities
- Performs assessments
- Produces quality images
- Assess patient/resident care needs
- Completes technical summary
- Provides pre/post-test education
- Provides procedure instructions
- Obtains feedback from patients
- Completes documentation on consent and time out verification form
- Immediately reports adverse reactions and documents
- Monitors patients
- Obtains patient history/identification and informed consent
- Selects correct paddles
- Can correctly identify and label body parts
- Performs correct anatomical positioning
- Knowledge of how to use protective devices
- Knowledge of how to use the Shimadzu Digital Fluoroscopy, the Shimadzu RAD/Speed, OEC 9900
- Knowledge of how to send images from the Shimadzu Digital Fluoroscopy and PACS
- Wears radiation badge, apron and or gloves as required
- Closes door during exposure
- Does not perform needless holds
- ALARA as low as possible
- Performs shielding for patients and Technologists
- Performs collimation
- Performs required QC exams per manufacture recommendations on equipment and completes documentation
Education and/or Experience/Certificates
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred. Current Ohio Licensure with Ohio Department of Health; Registered by the American Registered Radiology Technologist Association.
