Housekeeper

Job Description

Performs various housekeeping functions such as cleaning patient rooms, administrative offices, halls, floors, bathrooms and other public areas in order to maintain the Hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition in compliance with regulatory standards.  Required to move furniture, stripping and waxing, burnishing (buffing) and carpet cleaning.  Employees hired primarily for floor care shall be self-motivated, able to work independently and operate large floor-care equipment.  This position shall consist primarily of floor care, but the employee will assist in regular cleaning when scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, stairways and other work areas
  • Strips, waxes, polishes floors, and extracts carpets
  • Performs cleaning activities according to established guidelines
  • Vacuums carpeted floors
  • Correctly prepares cleaning solution to disinfect
  • Washes walls, ceilings and windows
  •  Dust and wet mops
  • Empties wastebaskets in appropriate container
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal areas
  • Collects infectious waste in red biohazard bags or sharps and replaces supplies
  • Removes & transports soiled linens to waste storage area
  • Distributes laundered articles and linens
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  At least one (1) to three (3) months of experience required.
